Finally, the start of the 2022 season is in sight for competitors in the Kumho BMW Championship, the longest-running race series in the UK for production BMW’s, which is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year!

The venue for Races 1 and 2 is the popular Silverstone International circuit on the weekend of 26/27th March. As the season progresses, we visit a number of classic circuits popular with both drivers and spectators, including Brands Hatch, Donington Park, Oulton Park and Snetterton.

The format will be a 15-minute qualifying session followed by two races of the usual 20 minutes or a 15-minute “sprint” race (another BMWRDC innovation!). Four of the meetings will be spread over two days, with the remainder one-day affairs. This year the Mini’s who raced as “invitation” in 2021 will be eligible for championship points in 2022 and will be in the running for the overall championship as well as their own Class honours.

The more familiar rear-wheel-drive BMW’s will be split into 4 classes defined on a power/weight ratio catering for any model BMW from virtually standard to “out and out” full race versions. The overall champion can come from any of the classes discussed above.

Drivers are already registering for this season in anticipation of the close, clean racing and friendly atmosphere so valued by all involved.
