Thruxton 13-14 June Class A
The fastest circuit in the country Thruxton in Hampshire was the latest circuit for the Kumho tyres BMW championship 2015.The track would be a good place to test the new slicks to the maximum with fast straights as well as some fast flowing chicanes.
A total of 6 cars took to the track for the 15 minute qualifying session and while it was cloudy the track was virtually dry.
At the end of the session it was Colin Wells (M3 CSL) leading the way with a time of 1:22.179 ahead of James Card (E46 M3) 1:23.251 with Roger Lavender (M3 evo) 1:24.416 just ahead of Mike Hibbert (E36 M3) 1:24.861.Darren Fielding (E36 M3 evo) 1:26.069 was next with Michael Timberlake (E46 M3) 1:28.400.The time for Wells represented an average speed of 103.20 MPH for the circuit measuring 2.35 miles in length.
The Sunday race saw the class A cars come out to race and this time they would be racing on there own/Another 20 minute race lied ahead of the drivers. A nice dry morning with the sun shinning. and all 6 cars were present on the grid.A good start to the race by Wells who headed off around the 1st lap of the race in front with Fielding & Card chasing him.Hibbert was leading Lavender but a moment for Hibbert at the final chicane after a few laps put him behind Lavender.The closest battle on track was between Fielding & Card and with some good close racing eventually Card made it past Fielding and started pulling away from him.Out in the front of the race Wells was looking good for another race win.After 13 laps Hibbert retired from the race.After completing 15 laps the race took the chequered flag with Wells taking the race win ahead of Card & Fielding.Lavender was 4th ahead of Timberlake.
Wells was fastest car on track (1:22.807) which was marginally slower than the previous day.
The latest win for Wells means he is unbeaten after 8 races this season.
